War Against Acne
MY WAR AGAINST ACNE…
Hi there! I
am one of the bloggers of myoxygenbotanicals, I would like to share my story on my
war against acne.
I had
very bad acne a few years back. It all started when I shifted to KL and start
to have little growth on my face. I’ve tried different facial products since
then, from facial products that works for my peers to over the counter branded
facial sets, spending thousands in the process. Instead of getting better, it
gets even worse. I’m just a student by that time, i could still recall those
days whereby I have to tie up my stomach and look for part time jobs in order
to finance my facial products.
- Choosing the RIGHT FACIAL PRODUCTS is the upmost important factor of all. Make sure your daily routine should include at least a cleanser, toner, moisturizer and sun block.
- DON’T BE LAZY in your daily cleaning routine. You must always wash your face (with or without makeup) before retiring to bed even if you are sick, extremely exhausted or etc.
- NEVER POP YOUR PIMPLES. You must always refrain from popping your pimples or else you will regret for the rest of your life when you see the horrible scarring on your face. The best way to this is to keep yourself away from any mirrors. Don’t concentrate on your pimples in the mirror and in fact limit your time on mirror each day.
- DON’T PUT YOUR HANDS ON FACE & DON’T TOUCH YOUR PIMPLES. Never let others to touch your face too! Who knows what is being harvested on your and their hands. Cleanliness is always the big thumb of rule.
- GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP. Make sure you have enough rest or sleep every day, at least 7 to 8 hours as stress can aggravate your acne.
- DRINK MORE WATER. Aim to get at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
- CHANGE YOUR PILLOW COVER every 4 or 5 days. I know it’s troublesome but I found this useful. For me basically, I place a new towel over my pillow every day.
- Take SUPPLEMENTS. Supplements may work for one but not others. Supplements that may be of value against acne include Vitamin A (free radical scavenger), Vitamin B complex (relieve stress), Vitamin E (free radical scavenger), Zinc (promotes healing), Magnesium (hormone regulator) and even Probiotics (healthy gut). It will only be great if they are well targeted and specifically address your imbalance. I found ‘Chinese Face Mapping’ a useful tool and different version may differ slightly in terms of their interpretation. Here’s an example of it, one that goes best with my experience, particularly, chin and jaw line = hormonal acne.
Here come a
few extraordinary tips (may or may not help with your acne):
- DETOXIFICATION FORMULA: be judicious whenever you want to embark on any of this regimen. Acne outbreak may be a sign of toxic accumulation in your body and detoxification may sound possible to clear this problem. In fact, acne eruption is a combination of different factors which may be hormonal, hereditary or environmental. Somehow whenever you are desperate, you will try any options that appear in front of you. I have tried 2 regimens, the first left me with no harm (from a direct selling company), in fact I have lost weight about 2kg but my acne is still there. The second one is ‘superb’, I got this formula from one of my friends- chili powder, lemon, organic vinegar & etc to be taken on empty stomach for a 10-day course. Maybe my body can’t adapt to it, I have severe, prolonged diarrhoea due to that and even incontinence, some oily stuff just leak out from my gut! I fainted a few times for unknown reason. For this time round, I lost about 10kg and I have very bad acne eruption. Conclusion, think wisely before you want to try any of this.
- Use CLEAN, FILTERED WATER to WASH YOUR FACE every day. I can’t remember from where I get this idea, but somehow I find it works. On a few trials with pipe water, the next day straight away I will have small pustules on my face. I am so obsessed in such a way that whenever I go travelling, I must have bottled mineral water with me to clean my face, not for the entire process of cleansing but the last rinse before I apply my toner and cream. You may find me insane, haha.
- STOP all the FRIED FOOD, SEAFOOD, CHOCOLATE, PEANUT and etc. This is rather a myth. Scientifically, these may bring out the flare but not the root cause of your acne. However, in some individuals, certain foods may trigger the acne process. It is always good to keep a diary of everything that you eat and find a link between your diet and acne flare up. As for me, I stopped these altogether and even my favorite prawn and crab. Basically, I only boiled my food, not even stir fried and I am nearly a vegetarian for that period of time. What a big sacrifice right? Till now I can’t figure out from where i get this kind of determination. When I start to pick up normal food after my acne settled, I start to have seafood and nut allergy but all right with other kind of food. I still cut down on any kind of fried food.
- Must STOP your friends or anyone around
you from mentioning ‘Oh, your acne
has improved a lot!’ This is just like a magical spell for your enemy
to attack you even more vigorously. Somehow, the next day, you will see
more eruptions on your face (from my personal experience) and you will
curse your friend badly. Haha, maybe I am just too superstitious but
somehow it really happens on a few trials.
I hope all these tips may somehow serve as a
rough guide for you. All the best and happy trying..
Sensitive Skin
How to go about with sensitive type of
skin?
A new skin-care product can sometimes bring out the red in you. And, reading the label or not, it's often hard to determine what ingredient is causing the trouble.
Here is some useful tips for you:
Apply a small amount to the soft, sensitive skin on your neck behind the ear lobe. Do this for 3 days, then wait.
NO REACTION: You're good to go!
